With many of us canceling more events and conferences than we are planning, I’ve created a series of “Conference Challenges” to spark the creativity in you and inspire others.

Comment below with your solution to this challenge.

Conference Challenge #2 – How to make a Face Mask an accessory.

Many in the industry feel that face masks are going to be part of conferences and events for the foreseeable future. I don’t know about you, but when I use one, I feel isolated and very “clinical”.  If conferences and events are all about EXPERIENCES, how do you take the clinical aspect of why people are wearing a face mask and make it more fun?

CHALLENGE:  Come up with ideas, that start prior to a meeting, that would make attendees feel like their FASK MASK is part of their experience.

Put out colored markers at registration and ask attendees to draw their best “faces” (with ground rules, of course). The winner gets a Starbucks gift card!

I think aside from the social awkwardness the masks bring, but gamification goes a long way in events already, so this feels like a smart step in the right direction ✔️
I really think the biggest impact will be on speakers. Ensuring everyone can hear is already a fun endeavour, throw a muffled voice into the mix and who knows!

As much as people hate it, wearing mask 😷 will be the NEW normal for awhile when attending a conferences, events or meetings. It will be very challenging as it will never be replaced with in-person meet up. Perhaps considering a contest to make it fun like awarding the “Best Mask Design or Print.
